Candle
Burning & Safety Tips
NEVER
leave candles burning unattended.
Always trim your
wicks to 1/4" each time before burning your candles. This
reduces smoking and increases burn time. If you don't have a wick
trimmer, a pair of toenail or fingernail clippers will work
fine.
Do not allow wick trimmings to fall into the
candle. Do not place matches or any other flammable items in the
candle. This can create a fire hazard.
For most efficient
burning of the candle, allow it to burn until the wax melts
completely across the container. Burning for very short periods of
time and then extinguishing the candle can cause "tunneling"
(burning a hole down the center of the candle).
Do not
burn candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Allow it to cool and
always trim the wick (or wicks) to 1/4" before
re-lighting.
Never leave candles burning
unattended.
Keep burning candles away from drafts. They can
cause uneven burning, excessive smoking, and can shorten the
burning time of your candle.
Burn candles on a secure,
level, heat-resistant surface such as a ceramic tile holder or
container, well away from flammable items. Consider where the wax
might end up should it be knocked over or broken. For safety, it's
best to use a ceramic tile or similar heat-resistant material
under the candle container.
Do not try burning a
container candle until all the wax is used, the container can get
hot enough to scorch wood, formica and other surfaces. Do not
burn the candle after the wax level reaches one-half inch from the
bottom of the container.
Never pick up
the candle while it is burning. Allow it to cool after
extinguishing before handling.
Keep the wick centered in
the candle to insure even and proper burning. If it gets too close
to the container, it could get hot enough to break the
glass.
Never leave candles burning
unattended.
Never burn a candle poured in an
unglazed pottery container (such as clay planting pots). The pot
can absorb the wax and become a serious fire hazard.
Never
leave candles burning unattended.
Always keep
burning candles out of reach of children and pets.
Never,
Never, Ever leave candles burning unattended.
